Are you Tuff enough to install a level access showering solution?
Many consider creating a full level access showering solution for the bathroom to be a time-consuming and demanding task but AKW – the market leader in daily living and showering solutions for independent living – offer a simple answer in the shape of Tuff Form®. Installing a wet-room former has never been a more straight-forward process, as the material can be effortlessly trimmed on site for speed and convenience.
Available in a range of sizes, Tuff Form® is suitable for both wooden and solid floors. With a carbon footprint assessment to PAS 2050 specification it is exceptionally strong to accommodate wheelchair users and a carer too – capable of withstanding up to 40 stone of weight in total – and enables maximum durability. Its ribbed underside design also eliminates slippage or float during installation.
To install the former to a timber floor, installers can simply cut out the desired flooring area before fitting support to all external edges of the tray, cross braces and within 100mm fully around the waste area. Once all joists and noggins are level, it needs to be secured down with wood-screws in the pre-formed fixing holes and mastic around the edge. Ensuring a flush finish, finally the former is to be sanded down and swept clean to ensure the floor’s adhesive adheres properly to it.
If the former is being installed on tiles, MAPEI wet room kit is recommended to fully waterproof and seal the shower area.
Bob Stimpson, the Special Projects Director, commented: “Tuff Form® demonstrates that creating a full level access showering solution can be easily achieved without extensive technical knowledge.”
“We have a team of trained technical advisors if anyone did need help with any stages while installing the former, but Tuff Form® has specifically been created with the installer in mind to keep difficulties to a minimum and create an easy and quick installation.”
