Collecting for Local Food Banks

Ongoing Support Where it's Needed

To help those who need it most in our local areas, AKW and DLP organise food bank collections at all our office locations.

Colleagues who are able to are encouraged to give dried, canned or long-life food items, along with sanitary and hygiene products, which are then donated to local Food Bank collection points at regular intervals throughout the year – especially at Christmas and during the school summer holidays when families in need may be under additional pressure.

Several boxes are collected each year and we’re very grateful to all our colleagues who repeatedly contribute and give generously to those in crisis.

AKW Christmas Food Bank Drive 2025

In December 2025, colleagues at AKW in Droitwich Spa celebrated Christmas Jumper Day and held a Festive Bake Off event to raise money for two great causes – Save the Children and their local food bank.

In addition to items of food that had been donated by colleagues, a fantastic £116.00 was raised on the day which was spent on long-life dried, canned, jarred or packeted food, sweet treats and toiletries.

The boxes were then donated via the collection point in supermarket close by the AKW offices, for distribution by the Trussell Trust where it will be given to families in need over Christmas.

AKW Return to Support Efficiency East Midlands' Christmas Food Bank Drive & Fundraiser

In December 2025, Sales Director Simon Hancox and Sustainability Manager Lauren Jones attended and contributed to Efficiency East Midlands’ (EEM) annual Christmas food bank drive and fundraiser on behalf of AKW.

The event was supported by a variety of EEM’s supply chain partners, including AKW, along with members of the wider local community to collect four tonnes of donations for two fantastic causes; The Trussell Trust Food Bank in South Normanton and Bassetlaw Food Bank who operate in Manton and Retford.

This is the second event EEM have held and AKW have supported, with four times the amount of donations made in 2025 compared to the previous year.  In addition, £4,000 was fundraised, which will go directly to both food banks to help them purchase urgently needed food and essential items for the people they support.

AKW Sales Team Support Customer Social Value Initiatives

In December 2024, Sales Director Vince Moorton supported the Efficiency East Midlands (EEM) team with their Christmas Community Event, which included games, snacks and a visit from Santa, and was an opportunity to collect items for two local food banks with the support of EEM’s members and supply chain.

Vince travelled to South Normanton in Derbyshire to attend and took a donation of food on behalf of AKW, with the event successfully collecting 1,800kg of food and raising £980 for charity.

Also that month, Business Development Manager Gary Mayes organised a donation of several bags of food and toiletries for the Trussell Food Bank Trust, supporting fundraisers held by CLC Loughborough and Accent Housing.

AKW Christmas Food Drive 2024

In December 2024, the teams at AKW offices in Droitwich Spa and Middlewich donated over 80kg worth of dried, canned, jarred or packeted food, sweet treats and toiletries to help support local families in need over Christmas.

Several boxes were dropped off a few days before Christmas at collection points in supermarkets close by the offices for distribution by the Trussell Trust.

DLP's Annual Christmas Food Drive

Every December, DLP organise a Christmas collection for the Isle of Man Food Bank and encourage colleagues to donate dried and canned food, toiletries, and Christmas treats to support local people over the festive period.

As the only food bank on the island, the Braddan-based charity have been offering vulnerable local residents access to invaluable donations, crisis support and guidance since 2013.

In addition to their annual collection, in December 2023, 13 DLP colleagues volunteered across three days and assisted the Food Bank staff with sorting donations and preparing packages for those in need.
