AKW Autumn Charity Golf Day Raises £10,217 for Children's Hospices Across London (CHaL)

On Thursday 2nd October 2025, AKW proudly supported a charity golf day event in Reading, Berkshire in aid of Children’s Hospices Across London (CHaL).

Our autumn charity golf event was hosted by the fabulous team at Wokefield Estate Golf Club, a 6,996-yard, par 72 championship golf course designed to US PGA standards, and one of the leading golf clubs in Berkshire.

Multiple teams of keen golfers took on the 18-hole course, as well as ‘Beat the Pro’ and ‘Yellow Ball’ team challenges, with the day concluding at the clubhouse where a hot evening buffet was served, followed by a fundraising raffle and auction.

Our second charity golf event of 2025 was held in aid of Children’s Hospices across London (CHaL), a group of six hospices that support children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families in London and in parts of the home counties.

CHaL hospices care for and support over 2,300 seriously ill babies, children and young adults, with families supported from diagnosis, through everyday life, and during times of crisis and through bereavement, with care often provided over many years.

Children’s hospices are facing unprecedented financial challenges with rising costs and a lack of sustainable funding (an average of 24% of costs are funded by the government) and a growing demand for services.

We’re thrilled that a fantastic total of £10,217.50 was raised on the day; these funds will help to support CHaL’s Babies Under One programme, which aims to:

Increase the number of babies under one with life-limiting conditions that are offered support from CHaL
Increase and improve services offered to seriously ill babies under one
Enable earlier referrals to allow more choice for families and earlier support
Build stronger collaboration between hospices and the 27 neonatal units in London
