On Sunday 16th July, AKW had the pleasure of exhibiting at and co-sponsoring Disability Awareness Day 2023 at Walton Hall & Gardens in Warrington, Cheshire.
Founded by and co-ordinated by Dave Thompson MBE DL MBA since 1992 and organised annually by Warrington Disability Partnership, Disability Awareness Day promotes a ‘can do’ culture by offering visitors the chance to explore the enormous tented village and meet with over 250 exhibitors promoting independent living – for free.
Visitors are invited to watch performances from singers, dancers, and musicians, and take part in fantastic activities such as scuba diving in the sports zone, a passion of Dave’s that he credits with changing his life since becoming a wheelchair user in the 1980s. There really is something for everyone and you’re guaranteed a fun day out for the whole family.
As proud first-time exhibitors and co-sponsors, local Business Development Manager Laura Walsh, along with Laura Rae, Lauren Jones, Sam Bennett, and Stuart Reynolds from Marketing attended to showcase the Onyx Care Pod, a quick-to-install, beautiful showering solution, along with our collection of SmartCare electric showers.
To entertain the little ones, and some very competitive adults, fairground-style Hook-a-Duck allowed people of all abilities to win a free AKW rubber duck and sweet treats, which proved to be a highly addictive and fun activity for all involved.
The AKW team had a brilliant day and loved meeting so many friendly faces; huge thanks to Dave and everyone at Warrington Disability Partnership for putting on such an inspiring event and bringing so many people together.
