AKW Donate Accessible Products to Good Causes

- Written by Laura

Throughout the summer months, AKW has helped to make life better for people with limited mobility by donating several accessible living products to two fantastic causes – Age UK Dementia Day Centre in Doncaster, and Worcester Snoezelen.

Back in June 2024, AKW Business Development Manager, Adam Broomhead, spent a day volunteering at the Age UK Dementia Day Centre in Doncaster. While there, he identified the need for a riser armchair to make sitting and standing more comfortable and safer for clients who visit.

Adam subsequently reached out to Sheffield-based mobility specialists Clark and Partners, who kindly agreed to supply a riser armchair from their collection. The chair was then donated to the centre on behalf of AKW, enabling clients to sit safely and in greater comfort!

Later on this summer in August, AKW also donated three fold-up support rails and five dark blue stainless-steel grab rails to Worcester Snoezelen, a leisure therapy centre for people with disabilities or additional needs, as several of their accessible bathrooms needed existing rails replacing.

Since installation, centre staff have received excellent feedback on how smart the new rails look, with the dark blue rails proving particularly useful for people with visual impairment as the colour contrast makes them easier to locate.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in delivering these projects; click for more information about our previous product donations, or our ESG journey.
