AKW Inspire at Careers Fayre

- Written by Connor

AKW Helping Hands encourages and supports colleagues with taking part in local volunteering initiatives as part of their employment with AKW. 21 regional teams cover vast areas of the UK, with 300 paid volunteering days allocated across the AKW Holdings Group to enable employees to get involved and improve life in their local communities.

Since its launch late in 2022, the scheme has already made a positive impact on both staff and beneficiaries, with AKW volunteers assisting Warrington Disability Partnership in December with their annual Christmas family event, and plenty more activity planned this summer.

Most recently, AKW HR Business Partner Charlotte Treverton-Jones, visited Witton Middle School in Droitwich Spa for a Careers Fayre which involved her presenting to small groups of children aged between 10-11 about her role at AKW and what the company does.

Charlotte said of the experience:

“Participating in the event at Witton school was enjoyable and rewarding. It allowed me to share how AKW’s products make a positive difference to our customers’ lives. It also gave me an opportunity to share why I chose to work in Human Resources and the different types of employment opportunities available at our organisation.

I am really proud to work at AKW for a range of reasons, not least that we take a caring, responsible approach towards our employees. To be given the option to take 2 paid days per year to volunteer is a fantastic benefit – it shows the leaders of our company care about our wider impact upon society.”
