AKW Inspire at Westacre Middle School Careers Day

- Written by Laura

Two AKW volunteers attended the Westacre Middle School Careers Day on 4th February 2025, where they spent a day speaking to children about their careers at AKW.

The Droitwich Spa school careers event aimed to provide year 6 children with information about the world of work and raise their aspirations for future employment prospects, with visitors from various industries keen to get involved and inspire the young minds.

AKW’s Lucy Moule and Charlotte Treverton-Jones delivered six sessions throughout the day to groups of 10–11-year-olds as part of the AKW Helping Hands Volunteering Scheme, which enables AKW colleagues to get involved with the community during their employment.

Charlotte and Lucy’s 45-minute sessions included a presentation about their respective roles at the company and the many career opportunities within Human Resources. They also led recruitment-related activities which were designed to engage the children with their new-found knowledge.

Both Lucy and Charlotte thoroughly enjoyed their time at Westacre and were thrilled by the high levels of enthusiasm shown by the class.

“The children got really involved… every group asked loads of questions about us and the work we do at AKW, which shows how much they were focused and listening to us!” – Lucy Moule, Customer Service Advisor

“The Careers Lead said the children were buzzing over lunch and were busy chatting about the range of different careers they had been learning about.” – Charlotte Treverton-Jones, HR Business Partner

We’d like to say a huge thank you to the staff and students at Westacre Middle School for making us feel so welcome and allowing us to be part of such an inspiring day!
