On Wednesday 28th June, three AKW colleagues spent the day volunteering at the main distribution centre for St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester.
The AKW Helping Hands scheme encourages staff to volunteer as part of their employment with AKW, with 300 days allocated per year for team members to get involved in charitable initiatives in their local area.
Three employees from across the Technical Team in Customer Servicesand the Finance department visited the Hospice’s main distribution centre where they were tasked with sorting stock in preparation for sale in various charity shop locations.
St Richard’s Hospice care for people with serious progressive illnesses who have complex needs which cannot be met by other services, these include cancer, as well as neurological, respiratory, cardiac, and renal conditions.
The team’s highlight of the day was sorting out the fancy dress box, which provided some entertaining photos and lots of laughs.
Credit Control Manager, Donna Lewitzkyi, said: “We had a fantastic time and we’re looking forward to returning in November to support St Richard’s Hospice”.
