Celebrating Individuals, Not Limitations at Felixstowe Disability Pride 2025

- Written by Laura

In aid of Disability Pride Month, on Friday 11th July AKW travelled to the sunny Suffolk coast to proudly support and exhibit at Felixstowe Disability Pride 2025.

Organised by Ian Bell of Suffolk Mobility Solutions and Clare Lucas of UK Ducks in a Row Ltd, the inaugural Felixstowe Disability Pride event aims to celebrate individuals, not limitations, by bringing members of the local disabled community, carers, families and schools together.

The fun-filled celebrations included a fabulously colourful procession led by Samboomba Samba Band and stroke survivors, from SeaYou Café & Restaurant along the beautiful promenade to Felixstowe Leisure Centre.

The scorching hot afternoon featured fun-filled entertainment with a variety of performances, and a roadshow which boasted eighteen stalls promoting local services and disabled providers, of which AKW was proud to be included.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Ian and Clare for organising such a fantastic event which celebrates disability and promotes inclusivity.

What is Disability Pride Month?

Commemorated annually in the month of July since 2015, Disability Pride Month celebrates the experiences, identities, cultures and contributions of disabled and neurodiverse people, and gives us an opportunity to reflect on the effort still needed to create a truly inclusive and equitable society.
