Team AKW Run Pretty Muddy 5K Race for Life for Fourth Year

- Written by Laura

For a fourth consecutive year, nine volunteers from AKW braved the Pretty Muddy 5K Race for Life last weekend in aid of Cancer Research UK.

On Saturday 19th July 2025, Paul Tingey, Stuart Fearn, Andy Dominy, Joanne Odgers, Donna Lewitzkyi, Chris Williams (on behalf of wife Lauren Williams), and team leader Sharon Oldfield who was joined by her sons, Jacob and Ollie, took to the track at Worcester Racecourse.

With events organised up and down the country every summer, the 5km course can be run, jogged or walked by those taking part and includes a number of grubby obstacles which offers challengers the chance to run, crawl, and slide through mud.

Once again, team AKW smashed the course and overcame every obstacle in their way, supporting and laughing with (and at) their colleagues as they went!

Thanks to generous donations from their friends, families and colleagues, team AKW have successfully raised over £1,700 (inc. Gift Aid) for 2025’s Pretty Muddy event!

We’d like to say a huge thank you and well done to all this year’s keen volunteers for their participation and all their fundraising efforts. With 1 in 2 people diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, every pound donated will help Cancer Research UK to continue their ground-breaking work.

The Pretty Muddy 5K Race for Life is incredibly popular with the AKW team and has become a firm fixture in our fundraising calendar, with many participants repeatedly taking part year after year.

We’re extremely proud to have taken part in five Pretty Muddy 5K Race for Life events, for which we have collectively raised over £10,500 (inc. Gift Aid) for Cancer Research UK since our first race in the summer of 2022.
